Whole Foods Market Will Require Genetically Engineered Labeling

Whole Foods Market non-GMO foods

Whole Foods Market has announced that they will now require all genetically engineered foods to be labeled by 2018. With the new labeling, you will know if a company uses genetically modified food.

Currently, Whole Foods Market (WFM) already carries over 3,000 products that are not genetically engineered. Whole Foods is encouraging manufacturers to step up and either change and not use genetically modified ingredients or be transparent in their labeling.

It is a huge step, and Whole Foods is recognizing this by giving companies five years to meet the requirements. It is a move in the right direction; after all, we should be able to know what we are buying. For more information on the labeling, visit Whole Foods Market Blog.
