Burt's Bees was the front-runner in using a Lactobacillus Ferment, an all-natural alternative to synthetic preservatives. Burt's Bees uses a combination of Lactobacillus Ferment with Gluconate.

Now, you can protect your homemade skincare and cosmetic formulations with Leucidal® SF Max.

Add a 2-4% concentration of Leucidal® SF Max to your DIY skincare or cosmetic formulation to increase its shelf-life. Blend until well mixed. Leucidal® SF Max may be hazy. To reduce haze, bring it to room temperature before adding it.

Consider adding a preservative like Gluconate with Sodium Benzoate for protection against yeast and mold. When finished, store it in the fridge.

Lactobacillus is a probiotic ferment from the lactic acid bacteria family. It works by acidifying the environment and restricting the growth of microorganisms.

This product is antimicrobial and does NOT protect against fungi, yeast, or mold. We recommend adding a 4% concentration and an additional preservative such as Gluconate for complete protection or using Leucidal Complete. Leucidal Complete is created by the fermentation of radish root ferment plus Amticide Coconut. Lactobacillus also produces created by fermentation.

If you are formulating to sell your products on the open market, it is always a good idea to have your product's challenge tested. So that you know how well the preservative is working.

Do not directly apply to your skin. Instead, this product should be added to a formulation at the recommended usage rate.
