Scientific Name: {Lonicera Caprifolium}
Common Name: {Honeysuckle Flower}

Honeysuckle has been used for centuries in the East for its skin soothing and calming properties. Rich in skin-friendly nutrients, the flower’s petals and leaves have been as a favorite in Chinese medicine. The petals and leaves can calm irritated skin and nourish dry, oily, or mature skin. Also, the extract from this plant can be used as a powerful sunblock, making it ideal for women who both want to improve the appearance of sun-damaged skin and prevent any further harm.

As an anti-inflammatory, honeysuckle works to reduce redness and improve the tone and texture of skin. For women who struggle with redness and irritation in the skin, a product containing honeysuckle can help to wipe out this irritation, by the target and removing the impurities in the skin that cause it. Often, irritation is a result of pollutants on the surface or by the kinds of makeup or cleansers that a woman uses. Not every cosmetic contains the most skin-friendly ingredients. However, using honeysuckle, even women with sensitive skin, that becomes red and irritated no matter what you do, can see a reduction of the redness in their skin.

If you use a new product, and it irritates your skin, after you remove it, you can use honeysuckle extract to soothe away that irritation. If you do have sensitive skin, that you know that your skin can become irritated simply by switching to a new product, it does not necessarily have to be because the product itself is irritating. To combat this, use a product that contains honeysuckle, to help calm your skin. If you have a chronic rash or skin irritation, like psoriasis or eczema, honeysuckle can contribute to reducing the redness caused by these conditions over time.

If you suffer from acne, honeysuckle can also help balance oily and combination skin. This ingredient contains a natural anti-bacterial component. Acne is typically caused by a mix of oil and bacteria or toxins on the skin. When the oil is trapped in a pore by dead skin cells or by bacteria, it can fester and create a small infection, which manifests itself as a blemish or a pimple. Honeysuckle helps to take the bacteria out of the equation and removes excess oil.
