What is the difference between Leucidal SF Complete, Leucidal Complete, Leucidal Liquid, and Leucidal SF Max?
Leucidal Complete provides the most protection. It is recommended for water-based formulas or products that will come in contact with water. Leucial SF Complete is a combination of Lactobacillus and coconut ferment.
Leucidal Liquid is a mild protectant. It is the easiest to formulate with. It is recommended for beginners and best for oil-based formulas. Leucidal SF Max is a ferment of Lactobacillus. It provides stronger protection than Leucidal Liquid. It can be combined with other preservatives to provide broad-spectrum protection.

1 ounce frosted glass dropper bottle, when incorporated at a 4% concentration, Leucidal® SF Complete is ideal for creating approximately 750ml or a 25-ounce batch.

For the 4-ounce white mini jug size, a 2% concentration yields around 200 ounces, while at a 4% concentration, it results in approximately a 100-ounce batch.

The 16-ounce white jug offers more versatility, allowing for about 800 ounces at a 2% concentration or around a 400-ounce batch at a 4% concentration.

  • Hello, I’m new to formulating. I am looking to make a DIY natural body butter and leave in conditioner. Even though these are oil-based, I am still looking to add a preservative. My questions: upon looking at the ingredients, I am still a bit confused as to the overall difference in Leucidal® Complete (is this the same as Leucidal Liquid complete?) vs Leucidal SF complete? Does one serve a different purpose to the other and is one more effective in protection? Can Leucidal Complete and Leucidal SF Complete be combined in a single formula? Lastly, at what point do you add these to your formula or to a simple formula such as body butter? Thank you in advance!

    All products that will come into contact with fingers or water (placed in the shower) should use a preservative to protect the product. Leucidal® Complete or Leucidal® Liquid Complete contains Radish Root, Coconut, and Lactobacillus. Leucidal® SF Complete contains Coconut and Lactobacillus. It is the easier of the two to formulate with. We recommend beginners use Leucidal® SF Complete. Both are effective and increase shelf-life.

    You would not need to use both, Leucidal Complete and Leucidal SF Complete in a product. If you are wanting to use a secondary preservative, we would recommend Sodium Benzoate and Gluconolactone.

    You would add the Leucidal Complete and Leucidal SF Complete during the cool down phase or at the end of formulation.
