Borage is a plant that is from the Mediterranean. Initially found in Spain and Morocco. It contains a high amount of Omega-6. It is an emollient that soothes dry skin and is a natural antioxidant.
Though it may sound daunting to put oil onto your skin, especially if you have oily or acne-prone skin, some oils are incredibly beneficial for your skin.
Using Borage Oil in your skincare products will provide moisture, even to the deepest layers of your skin. The additional moisture surge is good news for those with eczema or extremely dry, rough skin.
Borage oil comes from the Starflower, which grows primarily in Europe's warmer climates, but can be found worldwide. The star-shaped flowers contain essential oils and antioxidants, but the main oils are cold-pressed from the seeds the plant carries.
In ancient times, these seeds were extracted, pressed, and the oil was used in conjunction with alcohol as a medicine. Later, the leaves were used in teas, which promoted long lives and good health.
These days, only the seeds are utilized for their restoring properties. When pressed, the oil contains gamma-linolenic acid, a superior moisturizer for skin and helps the skin mend itself.
Improving the look of dryness, redness, acne, and any tears or discolorations that have occurred on sun damage or by scratching at acne.
Borage is high in Gamma-linolenic acid {GLA} and is produced naturally in our bodies, which is why borage oil works so well. Our chemistry is already predisposed to this oil, so it is absorbed well into your skin. It can penetrate even the deepest layers, where the worst damage may reside. Though some women can retain enough of this acid from their foods, most have to apply it directly to the face to obtain its health benefits.
This is particularly the case for women that have sensitive, irritated, or chronically inflamed skin. In general, a surface that bears serious skin conditions lacks the gamma-linolenic acid that it needs. One of the great ways to ensure enough acid to work its healing magic is to apply it directly to concerned areas. Not only will it bring soothing moisture, but it will also work with the skin’s natural structures to help create a brighter, more natural appearance.
Borage oil and products that contain it are especially beneficial for women who have dry or problem skin. This ingredient helps balance the skin to a more natural state to mend itself and become softer and more even, two things that all women desire for their skin. In addition, a lotion or serum containing this oil will improve the appearance of your skin’s texture. Plus, reduce the look of fine lines, and help your face retain moisture.
