Does the combination of the vitamin a and vitamin c in the ingredients irritate skin? And can I use this product with tretinoin? I just want to make sure because of the vitamin c in ingredients
Thank you for your inquiry about using our products in conjunction with other active ingredients like tretinoin. It's important to use skincare products that contain potent actives wisely to ensure your skin remains healthy and vibrant.
Combining Vitamin C and Vitamin A derivatives (like tretinoin or retinols) at the same time can potentially lead to irritation because both are highly active ingredients. To avoid any adverse reactions, we generally recommend not using Vitamin C and tretinoin together in the same routine.
Here’s how you can safely incorporate both into your skincare:
- Vitamin C: Best used in the morning. Vitamin C is an antioxidant that helps protect the skin against environmental damage and enhances brightness. Using it in the morning leverages these benefits throughout the day.
- Tretinoin/Retinols: Best applied at night. Tretinoin is known for its potent anti-aging and skin refining benefits but increases the skin's sensitivity to sunlight. Applying it at night minimizes this risk.
Since our product contains Vitamin A and you are also using tretinoin, I recommend alternating their use to avoid overloading your skin with too many actives at once. You might consider using the Vitamin A containing product every other night, replacing tretinoin on those evenings. This cycling approach helps manage potential irritation and allows your skin to benefit from both ingredients without overwhelming it.
As always, listen to your skin’s response and adjust usage based on its tolerance. If irritation occurs, reduce the frequency of application. For any persistent issues, consulting a dermatologist is advisable.
