Keeping your Skin Healthy This Summer

With all this lovely weather right around the corner, we can't help but want to spend most of our time outside soaking up the sun. While this is perfectly acceptable, it can also cause your skin to prematurely age by accelerating the aging process.

It's best to take care of your skin as best as possible, especially in the middle of the summer, when the sun is high in the sky, to avoid premature aging. While you may feel like running out the front door without applying anything to your skin to enjoy the weather, this is a bad idea.

Aside from risks like skin cancer and other skin diseases that arise from too much exposure to the sun, too much exposure to the sun without proper protection can also cause short-term effects. Use these tips for keeping your skin healthy this summer and during fun in the sun:

  • Protect your face - Even those quick walks during your morning or lunch break can expose your face to some unwanted radiation from the sun. Working with sunscreen application to your morning routine can work wonders regarding protecting yourself from early aging.
  • Keeping our lips protected - Your lips are a crucial part of your face and shouldn't be overlooked when applying for sunscreen or protection. Lipstick with SPF of at least 15 is sure to help you look good and stay protected at the same time. Also, organic lip balm is an excellent way to keep those lips hydrated and protected from the elements.
  • Hydrate your body by eating - You may know this already, but what you put in your body is naturally going to affect your skin. That's why during the summer, it's crucial to eat food that has hydrating capabilities like watermelon, leafy greens, and berries. This also naturally includes drinking enough water.
  • Exfoliate daily - While this already may be a part of your daily routine, it can't hurt to reiterate that this is an excellent idea. A gentle exfoliating method is a great habit to get into to keep your skin healthy this summer. This helps wash the dead skin from the face that will accumulate during the day and give you much clearer and smoother skin.
